Western Galilee Medical Center is the largest government hospital in the Galilee region of Israel . It has 69 departments and specialty units, with 700 registered beds and a staff of 2,200 and 300 volunteers, making it the largest employer in the region. Center Structure: The medical center is divided into six professional divisions:
a) Internal Medicine Division - Includes all the in-patient departments in the field of internal diseases. Moreover, it includes intensive care units that serve the division’s departments, such as general intensive care, respiratory ICU and cardiac ICU.
b) Surgical Division - Includes departments that specialize in all cases that require surgery. The surgical division features state-of-the-art operating rooms, which are protected against nuclear, biologic, and chemical warfare that are numbered among the few such operating rooms in the country.
c) Women’s Health Wing - Includes in-patient departments and diagnostic and treatment units related to women’s health and childbirth.
The Women’s Health Wing is currently under construction. The first stage of the division will be operational in the summer of 2014.
d) Pediatric Division - Includes in-patient departments and units that specialize in pediatric diseases, the prevention of childhood diseases, and the promotion of the physical and mental health of children.
e) Emergency Medicine Division - Includes an 24/7 emergency room that provides urgent care to stabilize the patient’s condition and serves as the initial triage for patients who require continued care as part of an in-patient framework.
f) Paramedical Treatment Division - Includes all the departments, institutes and units that offer diagnostic services for the various in-patient departments, in the fields of imaging tests, blood tests, etc. The division also offers auxiliary treatment units, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
