Social work at the medical center is a part of the Israel government health basket received by patients as guaranteed by various laws (prevention of familial violence, patient rights, treatment of the helpless, termination of pregnancy, guardianship, etc.). The social workers enable a continuous therapeutic relationship with the patient from admission to discharge and return to the community.

The social worker’s intervention includes:  prevention, assistance with coping with the disease and its implications, finding alternative solutions, planning patient discharge, etc.  Most of the psychosocial treatment is conducted with the patient and his/her family on an individual, family, group and community basis.
